Vào 12:30 đêm giờ Việt Nam ngày 19/06 Amazon đã giới thiệu chiếc smartphone đầu tiên của hãng với tên gọi Fire Phone chạy hệ điều hành Fire OS dựa trên nền tảng Android được tùy biến mang những nét đặc trưng riêng và đi kèm nhiều dịch vụ và phần mềm hấp dẫn như miễn phí dịch vụ lưu trữ ảnh không giới hạn dung lượng. Tuy nhiên không phải tất cả các ứng dụng Android đều chạy được trên Fire Phone.

Chiếc điện thoại thông mình đầu tiên của Amazon cũng chính là chiếc smartphone đầu tiên có khả năng nhận diện cử chỉ của đầu người dùng. Chức năng Firefly cho phép máy nhận diện (thông qua camera) số phone, phim ảnh, sách, trò chơi, CDs và thức ăn. Các nhà phát triển sẽ có quyền truy cập vào các hàm lập trình này thông qua bộ SDK có thể tải ngay bây giờ.

Độc quyền phân phối bởi nhà mạng AT&T với giá 199$ (32Gb) kèm hợp đồng 2 năm hoặc mua đứt với giá 649$-749$. Ngày 27/07/2014 có hàng và có thể pre-order ngay từ hôm nay.
