As part of Minecraft Live 2021, developer Mojang has revealed his new update, Wild Update, which includes terrifying underground cities in the upcoming Deep Dark biome. This year, Minecraft Live featured dozens of new information for interested fans, including a new Minecraft mob vote, which gives players the opportunity to vote for three mobs that will appear in the game. The winner of this year's vote was Allay, a little fairy-like creature that can collect items for players.

In addition to the mob vote, Minecraft Live shared new information for the future of the iconic creation game and its dungeon-crawling spin-off, Minecraft Dungeons. The just-announced Wild update isn't the only thing fans of the base game can hope for; Players are also looking forward to the second part of the massive Caves & Cliffs update, which was split into two parts earlier this year. At today's live event, Minecraft previewed Caves & Cliffs part 2 and promised that it will be released in the next two months. But today's Minecraft livestream didn't just focus on updates that had been previously announced; It also showed what fans can look forward to for the game's further future.

Minecraft gave players their first look at the Wild Update and showed off some of the changes to expect from it. Chief among them are the ancient cities of the Deep Dark biomes, ruined settlements that can be found deep underground. These dark and sinister places are lit by candles and infested with a type of creepy block known as a Sculk, which is a strange organic substance that seems to be drawn to death. New varieties of Sculk were shown, including the terrifying Shrieker, who will let out a terrifying scream when a player activates a nearby Sculk sensor. The scream will impart a dark effect on the player, severely limiting their vision and leaving them vulnerable to the incredibly dangerous Warden of Minecrafts.

The sinister appearance of the ancient cities, the bloodcurdling scream of the Sculk Shriekers, and the stealth required to elude the deadly Warden mean that travel to these new areas will likely end up being more like a survival horror game than a traditional Minecraft adventure. . It's surprising to see how different this terrifying new region is from the rest of what was featured in the new update, including the adorable frogs that players can encounter. Details on the Wild Update are still scant, but thrill-seeking Minecraft players will likely be interested in learning more about Deep Dark. Minecraft has been around for a long time, and it's already been successful enough to name it the best-selling game of all time.

When the simple survival-building game first hit the market in 2011, it's unlikely anyone could have envisioned the nightmare underground dungeons that would eventually be added to the title. Creative and memorable additions like these show that even after all these years, the game still has life. Fans who are in for a good scare and have been participating in the Minecrafts Spookyfest event will likely be thrilled to travel to Deep Dark when the Wild Update hits Minecraft sometime next year.
