While most agree that Hello Games' galaxy exploration title No Mans Sky has become a hugely popular game in recent years, there is no denying that it had a rather abysmal release when it was released in 2016. The problem was, No Mans Sky was overrated, and fans were ultimately disappointed by the lack of content, as well as the broken promises. However, the studio has been working tirelessly ever since to make it the product that many enjoy these days. And now it seems that the game will also enter the Halloween atmosphere.

In a video posted on the YouTube channel Hello Games, it appears that No Mans Sky will be getting a spooky-themed update, just in time for the late October jubilation. Known as "Emergency", this patch will see players stranded on a planet called Wasan, with a dark narrative to begin with. The video description describes the planet as "barren" and riddled with "Titan Worms" in which fans are tasked with cleaning up the planet and unraveling the mystery of the story. Titan Worms are described as a plague in the universe, destroying the terrain wherever they go. They sound similar to the sandworms that were introduced in No Mans Sky last year, in which huge worm-like beasts can be seen emerging from the ground and arcing over the landscape.

The trailer for the Emergence update even shows a player running away from one of the new Titan Worms as he storms onto the ground, his jaw dropped. There are even images of one of them flying through the air, screaming at the sky. The video in general has a slightly creepy, almost terrifying atmosphere, in which the screen fails at all times and the player is seen running rampant across a desolate planet. The trailer doesn't specify when the update will be released, but it will almost certainly arrive in time for Halloween.

The game is constantly updated, and the Frontiers patch is the last major one for the space exploration game. This update brought with it the ability for players to become overseers of the planets they settle on, naming cities, organizing festivals, etc. Players are also tasked with protecting settlements. Frontiers also sought to improve base construction.

With Emergence coming out soon, it will no doubt also bring with it some general tweaks and bug fixes to keep the game on top. It may have gotten off to a rocky start, but now is as good a time as any to jump into No Mans Sky. This latest spooky update will provide even more content for players to get caught up in, especially as October 31 approaches.
